Description
"The Mavilla bridge was built in 1903 to substitute a wooden structure from 1853 servicing an old 19th century Toa Alta-Bayamón unpaved road. Eighty men worked under Roque Paniagua on the construction of the bridge which cost $3,000.00. In 1909, contractor José García-González added a concrete balustrade at a cost of $644.00. It is the earliest extant long-span concrete arch bridge and one of the most attractive." --Description from United States Department of the Interior National Park Service National, Register of Historic Places, Maravilla Bridge.
