Description
Banco Popular San Juan inaugurado 1939
"Rising to a height of eleven stories above the Plazoleta Dabán, the first Banco Popular building was built in 1939 (the highest in the Caribbean at the time). There was no more adequate site in the city of San Juan, from the point of view of its location and convenience. The first three floors were occupied by the bank, seven floors were dedicated to offices and the Bankers Club was located at the top. This building, which became known in the Antilles for its height, was equipped with the best advances of its time: air conditioning plant, whose temperature is regulated by the movement of the sun; elevators that communicate to all floors; windows and doors that face the outside and protect it from noise and dust; mailboxes on each floor and a steel tank with sufficient capacity for water supply. This construction, made reality the dream of Rafael Carrión Pacheco". --Description from Popular Newsroom, En el 1939 se inaugura el edificio de Banco Popular en el Viejo San Juan.
